For heaven’s sake, this has been known for a long time.My periods began when I was 17, 1958, and were horrible from the very first–felt like I was being cut with a knife, were like contractions, were extremely irregular, and extremely long with severe bleeding. It is a wonder I did not die from all the aspirin I took in those years. in 1964, age 23, I got married. The pills reduced my pain to almost nothing, made me regular, reduced the heavy bleeding, etc. and in two weeks time cured the horrible …

With the increasing incidence rate of thyroid cancer in Metro Cebu, the Eduardo J. Aboitiz Cancer Center (EJACC) of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation inc. (RAFI) urged the public to undergo early screening and prevention measures to fight the disease.
“Thyroid cancer is high on prognosis. It is preventable through various screening methods, such as physical examination and ultrasound of the neck, as well as some prevention measures, including regular exercise and maintenance of a well-balanced diet,” said Ronald delos Reyes, EJACC program coordinator.
Based on EJACC’s Metro Cebu Population-based Cancer Registry, the incidence rate of thyroid cancer in 2003 to 2007 is high but the mortality rate is comparatively lower.
Within this period, about 573 cases of thyroid cancer were reported, of which 116 died of the disease. Ninety-seven cases have been attributed to persons …

In today’s 18 and Under column, Dr. Perri Klass, a pediatrician, makes the case that we sometimes overreact to concerns about teenagers, texting and other social media.

Whether about sexting or online bullying or the specter of Internet addiction, “much social media research has been on what people call the danger paradigm,” said Dr. Michael Rich, a pediatrician and the director of the Center on Media and Child Health at Children’s Hospital Boston.
Though there are certainly real dangers, and though some adolescents appear to be particularly vulnerable, scientists are now turning to a …

Acne is a skin condition present in of millions of Americans. Common in the teen years and slowing into young adulthood, acne can be frustrating to treat and has a tendency to appear at the worst time.
A lot of progress has occurred in the last few decades in the area of treating acne. Originally acne treatment consisted of a ‘one size fits all’ approach, which is not always effective because severity of acne and individual skin types vary from person to person.

Though topical acne cream products are the more high visibility treatments today, oral treatments have for some time been utilised for acne treatment. but , through the years, many acne patients have suffered complications from their use.
Most of these oral medicines are antibiotics that, with extended use, lose their effectiveness since patients develop acne bacteria that grow resistant to the antibiotic being employed to fight it.
That is why doctors prescribe oral antibiotics no longer than six months. but since this will pose a problem for a long-term acne victim, oral treatment is often prescribed in conjunction with topical acne solution cream.
Oral Treatment side Effects
