PEOPLE with “port-wine stain” birthmarks can now be treated for them with less pain and fewer sessions thanks to new technology now available in Bristol.

A new laser at Frenchay Hospital means that people with the birthmarks and other skin conditions will not have to endure so many treatment sessions and are less likely to require anaesthetic. It also means there is more chance of particularly deep birthmarks fading without causing scarring.

The new laser was purchased by the hospital after a £50,000 donation from the Friends of Frenchay.
