Holidays in Finland: Laid-back, creative Helsinki has been bitten by the design bug

Think of Scandinavian style and Swedish-born Ikea invariably springs to mind. with its pocket-friendly flat-packed furniture proving ever-popular, not to mention the likes of H&M, Cos and Acne taking over our high streets, it would seem that Sweden has cornered the market when it comes to Nordic design.
But it is Helsinki, not Stockholm, that has been awarded the coveted title of design capital of the world for 2012, taking the baton from Seoul in South Korea.
