Acne is a very common problem that can be observed not only in teenagers but in adults as well. Acne can affect an individual in various ways and the acne treatments too depend upon its severity.
If you have mild acne or moderate or severe acne determines what acne treatment you will be provided. However, there are chances of developing drug resistant bacteria and that’s why mostly doctors combine all the three treatments.
Treatment for acne comprises of lotions, gels that can be applied upon the blemishes. These are known as topical medications. if the doctor prescribes you oral medication, you would be required to take tablets for acne treatment.
Mild acne includes blackheads, whiteheads and pimples. Treatment for such type of acne includes:
oMild soap cleansing.
oUsage of benzoyl peroxide at the affected area.
oUsing salicalic acid present in Clearasil, Stri-Dex.
These treatments you may follow on your own. However, if these are not effective, it’s advisable to consult your doctor, who may give you oral medication or stronger medicines that may help to unplug the affected pores.
Moderate and severe acne
Usually these types of acne require dual treatment of both topical and oral medication. sometimes acne needs treatment with stronger medications or a combination of therapies. since in moderate and severe acne conditions there are chances of a scar to be left behind, antibiotics are a must for healing purposes.
oUsing benzoyl peroxide.
oUsing prescribed gels or lotions.
oGetting cysts drained by a qualified health professional.
oUsing retinoid but only if prescribed.
oUsing oral antibiotics and retinoid, also known as Accutane.
Remember that acne treatments take time. it may depend from person to person also. There are times when prior to getting healed acne gets worse also. do not worry. Trust your doctor and be patient. Acne treatments are not impossible.
